Congress demands repolling in two polling booths of Manglaur

A delegation led by vice president ( organisation) of State Congress, Mathura Dutt Joshi met the chief electoral officer (CEO) Uttarakhand, BVRC Purushottam at his office on Wednesday afternoon and submitted a memorandum on Libberhedi violence. The party demanded repolling in violence affected booths.
Joshi said that official machinery was misused in Manglaur during voting. He said that an incident of firing in presence of Police personnel was reported in Libberhedi. Joshi said miscreants attacked voters with sticks near booth number 53 and 54 at Government Primary school and fired six to seven rounds from illegal weapons. He told the CEO that Congress workers Shakeel, Sahbag and Saukeen sustained injuries in the attack. Joshi said that Congress party had warned earlier that many vehicles with number plates of Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh with posters of BJP are roaming in Manglaur and money and liquor distributed to influence the voters.
The Congress delegation demanded repolling in booth number 53 and 54 of Manglaur. Joshi said that the incident of firing in Libberhedi is not a good sign for democracy.
Libberhedi violence an attack on democracy: PCC president
DEHRADUN: The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the incident of booth capturing and firing in Libberhedi of Manglaur assembly constituency is an attack on democracy in the State. Accusing the administration for working under the influence of the ruling party, Mahara said Congress party was consistently complaining about misuse of official machinery by the ruling party but the election commission paid no heed. He claimed that the ruling party used muscle and money power along with liquor to influence voters. Mahara said that high level inquiry should be ordered in Libberhedi violence.
