Congress demands Shila’s return to Kedarnath from Buradi in Delhi

Wednesday, 17 JULY 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Uttarakhand Congress has demanded that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami should use his authority to ensure that the Kedarnath Dham Trust, Delhi, which is planning to construct a Kedarnath temple in Buradi in Delhi removes the word Dham from its name and return the Shila ( rock) transported from Kedarnath.

Interacting with the mediapersons here on Tuesday, the former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said that CM Dhami was the chief guest in the foundation laying ceremony of the temple in question in Buradi where the organisers claimed that those who are not able to go to Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand can attain the same blessings of Lord Shiva by paying obeisance in the upcoming Kedarnath Dham in Delhi.  He said that the CM has said that some people are misleading the public on the issue and claimed that there are some wolves in the hide of lions. Godiyal claimed that it was CM Dhami who carried the Shila (rock) from Kedarnath to Buradi. He questioned under which authority the CM carried the Shila. “The sacred Shila is the spiritual property of the people of Uttarakhand and we will not allow its commercial use,’’ he said.

Godiyal added that the Kedarnath Dham Trust, Delhi, is using the picture of Kedarnath Dham located in high Himalayas and has released a QR code for receipt of donations for the upcoming structure. He said that the interests of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) are getting hurt and it should take action against those who are misusing the name of Kedarnath.  Godiyal said that all the teerth purohits and stakeholders are agitated over the upcoming Kedarnath Dham in Delhi and the Congress party is standing shoulder to shoulder with them.
