Four Kanwadias arrested for assaulting parking attendants

The police arrested four purported Kanwadias for allegedly attacking parking attendants with a sword over a parking dispute in Muni Ki Reti, Tehri district on Sunday. The officials said that a man named Rahul Gupta filed a written complaint late on Saturday that he and his friends were verbally abused and assaulted by some Kanwadias over a parking fee dispute for a tractor trolley at the Janki Bridge parking area. They allegedly attacked his friend Balam Singh Bisht with a sharp weapon. Bisht sustained serious head injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh.

The officials said that an FIR was registered against the unknown accused and sub inspector Kamal Kumar of Muni Ki Reti police station started the investigation. The investigation revealed the involvement of Mahant Saurabh Giri Naga Baba (40) and three teenagers, Divya alias Deepu (19), Rajat Kumar (19) and Arun (18). All belong to the Sonipat district in Haryana. The officials said that all accused had come to Haridwar to fetch holy water and after returning from the Neelkanth temple, they attacked the parking attendants at Janki Bridge over a parking fee dispute.

The accused were arrested near the matchstick factory on Sunday. The police also recovered a sword from their possession, which was used in the attack along with the tractor trolley.
