Helicopter services to Kedarnath to resume, Govt offers 25 % rebate in fare
Dhami conducts inspection of disaster-affected areas of Rudraprayag district

The State government has decided to give 25 per cent rebate in fare to the pilgrims visiting Kedarnath by helicopter. An order regarding this was given by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during his visit to Rudraprayag district on Tuesday. He said that the State government will bear the financial burden of the rebate. The CM directed the authorities to resume the helicopter service to Kedarnath from Wednesday.
During his visit, the CM reviewed the relief and rescue operations, and reconstruction work in the disaster-affected areas of Rudraprayag district. He also conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas.
In the review meeting held later, the CM assessed the performance of all the departments related to the Yatra route and enquired about the damage caused by heavy rains. He also enquired about the efforts and preparations being made by all the departments to resume the Yatra. Dhami directed the officers to take necessary steps to restore normal life in the disaster affected areas. He said that the damaged roads, drinking water and electricity lines should be restored as soon as possible. The CM directed that the pilgrimage to Kedarnath Dham pilgrimage should resume soon.
At GMVN’ Rampur building, the CM heard grievances of local people and assured every possible help to them. He also expressed gratitude to the local people for their support in the rescue operation conducted by the government and administration. Expressing gratitude to the union government, the CM said that it provided every possible help including Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters for rescue operation.
Interacting with the media persons during his visit, the CM said that bridle paths and roads have been obstructed at 29 places due to landslides triggered by heavy rains. He said that drinking water and electricity lines have also been damaged and telecommunication disrupted due to the disaster. The CM said that the district administration, Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, SDRF, NDRF , Police, Teerth Purohits and social organisations are working in tandem in the area. The CM claimed that about 12,000 devotees and local people were rescued in record time and the rescue operation is almost complete.
Cabinet minister Saurabh Bahuguna, Rudraprayag MLA Bharat Chaudhary, district Panchayat president Amardei Shah, president of State BJP Mahila Morcha Asha Nautiyal, chief secretary Radha Raturi, officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretaries Pankaj Pandey and Vinod Kumar Suman, Garhwal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and other officers were present in the meeting.
