Public awareness against crime not wrong, Congress still indulging in appeasement; BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that it is against discrimination, but the members of society have the right to protect themselves. Claiming that the law and order situation in the State is good, the BJP said that the society has the right to protect itself within the limits of the law. The party’s State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the objections being raised by the opposition to sign boards put up by some villagers in Rudraprayag are part of the opposition’s politics of protecting those with a criminal mentality.

Bhatt strongly criticised the objections raised by some Congress leaders to what he said was the rising social awareness across the State regarding people with criminal tendencies. He said that the government has been ensuring prompt and strict action whenever any criminal activity is brought to light. “Most of those involved in such criminal activities have faced legal action. Social awareness is a vital part in any active society. As a result, villagers in some mountainous areas had put up some message boards while aware residents in urban areas also react to such situations in different ways. The people have the right to ensure their own security, to prevent theft, crime and raise awareness on people trying to enter with the wrong intentions. Nobody has the right to discriminate against the followers of any religion. However, the Congress and the opposition questioning the proactive action of villagers just to appease their vote bank is not good. This makes it clear that they support the conspiracy to create disturbance and demographic changes in the mountainous regions of the State,” the BJP State president said.

He further said that the opposition is not bothered about the strict action being taken against crimes and the rise in public awareness in Uttarakhand. The main focus of the Congress is to continue appeasing a particular community at the cost of the sense of security in the society.
