Uttarakhand Govt committed to welfare & prosperity of farmers: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is committed to the welfare and prosperity of the farmers. He said that interest free loan of up to Rs three lakh is being provided to the farmers and 80 per cent subsidy is being given for purchasing agriculture equipment under farm machinery bank scheme. The CM was addressing a programme organised at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar after inaugurating 116th Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Mela and exhibition.
The CM said that the government is giving a bonus of Rs 20 per quintal on purchase of wheat and the purchase price of sugarcane has been increased by Rs 20. The State government is developing six aroma valleys for promoting aromatic farming in the State. Dhami said that a provision of Rs 200 crore has been made in the budget this year for playhouse construction. He averred that the State government has approved Uttarakhand climate responsive rain-fed farming project of Rs 1000 crore for encouraging rain fed agriculture in the mountainous areas. The government has started apple and kiwi missions and the farmers are being provided 80 per cent subsidy for establishing apple farms.
The CM added that the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing the benefit of increased MSP on all important crops. He said that the fact that PM Modi signed the file for Kisan Samman Nidhi immediately after taking oath of the office of PM underlies his commitment towards farmers and their welfare.
The CM said that the Pantnagar University is helping farmers by providing better farming techniques and seeds. He expressed confidence that the Kisan Mela will be helpful in upliftment of farmers.
Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor of the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology Manmohan Singh Chauhan said that the GDP of the State is increasing under the leadership of CM Dhami. He said that approval to 28 high quality seeds of pulses has been given by the Union government and out of them 10 seeds were developed at Pantnagar university. The VC claimed that in the last two years the university has entered into seven MoUs of international level. He added that the university is working on drone and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and is also preparing a clone of Badri cow.
