Chief secretary Radha Raturi has directed all the officers of the State government that the departments should put the schemes/projects in the meeting of the State cabinet only after thorough examination and assessment. In a letter directed to additional chief secretary, principal secretaries, secretaries and all the heads of the departments, the CS said that it is generally seen that the departments put their projects and schemes for consideration of the State cabinet without proper evaluation, examination and comparison. This results in a situation where the desired objectives remain unfulfilled.
She said that the departments should assess all their ongoing schemes and prepare proposals for merging them.
Raturi asked the officers to examine similar schemes of other departments as well while preparing new schemes so that there is no discrepancy in between financial proposals of the departments.
The CS also instructed the officers to pay special attention to financial discipline and maintaining austerity in all the proposed schemes. She said that the procedures for approval of schemes should be simplified so that there are no delays and cost overruns in implementation of the schemes.
Raturi directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to set clear standards for road cutting and added that no department or agency should repeatedly damage the road without the permission of the district magistrate.
