CM hands over appointment letters to 108 assistant professors

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 108 assistant professors in the State’s Higher Education department in a programme held at his residence on Tuesday. The newly appointed assistant professors are of Hindi, Chemistry, Geography and Political Science subjects.
Congratulating the selected individuals the CM said that higher education is an important medium for chiseling the human resources to shape and it gives right direction to the youth power. The CM said that in the last three years 18,500 youngsters were provided with jobs in different government departments.
He said that the State government is strengthening the education system and infrastructure in Uttarakhand. The government has set up 20 model colleges with facilities for girls’ hostels and IT labs. The government is providing scholarships to meritorious students and giving research grants up to Rs 18 lakh to the professors for research.
The government has set a target to provide placement to 5,000 students of colleges by giving them training in the banking and financial sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, the Higher Education minister Dhan Sinh Rawat said that 100 per cent faculty positions are filled in higher education in the State out of which 82 per cent are regular and the remaining are guest faculty. In the last seven years 51 college buildings of colleges were constructed.
The deputy chairperson of Higher Education Upgradation Council Devendra Bhasin, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretary Pankaj Pandey, additional secretary Ashish Srivastava, Higher Education director Manju Agarwal and director general of UCOST Durgesh Pant were present on the occasion.
