NIWS, UTDB sign agreement to boost water sports, tourism

To boost adventure tourism and local employment, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) and the National Institute of Water Sports (NIWS) inked an agreement on Friday. The objective behind this agreement is to bring new places into the tourism map of the State through promoting water sports activities, said the secretary, State Tourism Department Sachin karve. Karve and the chief executive officer, NIWS Ranjeet Singh signed the document.

Karve further said that post-this agreement, the local youths would be imparted practical lessons on water sports, boating, rafting, lifeguarding, rescuing and the like.

Lauding the agreement, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand being rich with rivers, lakes and water bodies,  it would go a long way in not just opening new avenues of employment for youth but also further boosting the State’s economy through bringing more tourists fond of water sports activities.
