Municipal council of Muni Ki Reti holds programme on low cost sanitary pad production

The Municipal Council of Muni Ki Reti organised an awareness programme on Sunday in its premises under the direction of director of the Pragya Foundation, Pragya Dixit. The initiative was conducted as part of the Government of India’s Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Mission. It focused on educating women from registered self-help groups about producing low-cost cloth sanitary pads. During the session, women SHGs interested in making cloth sanitary pads were informed about receiving specialised training. They were also given knowledge about establishing outlets to facilitate the proper marketing and sale of the products. Besides this, the programme also emphasised on the importance of the collection and appropriate disposal of sanitary waste. The attendees were also educated on segregating sanitary waste for disposal using designated municipal vehicles. The critical information on sanitary waste management was disseminated to ensure environmentally friendly practices. Representatives from SHGs, including Vardaan, Nari Disha, Shiv Shakti, Annapurna Dev Bhoomi and Maa Sargam among others participated in the event. The municipal officials Kalyan Singh, Deepak Kumar and Revenue department representatives Rai Singh and Nidhi Thapliyal and others were also present. The officials said that this initiative was to empower women through skill development and promote sustainable waste management practices.
