Dry weather to continue, winter chill awaited as November about to end
PNS | DEHRADUN
Even though there has been snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir during the winter this year, the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand have remained dry with negligible rain and snowfall being reported so far. The lack of rain and snowfall in the winter this year has exacerbated the pollution in the plains while also resulting in above normal temperatures in various parts of the State.
The State meteorological centre has forecast that dry weather is likely to prevail across the State on Tuesday too. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with mist likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 26 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 26.2 degrees Celsius and 10.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 26.6 degrees Celsius and 9.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17 degrees Celsius and 4.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 17.8 degrees Celsius and 6.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
It is pertinent to mention here that though the maximum and minimum temperatures have consistently remained above normal in Dehradun, the same have been fluctuating in other parts of the State. On Monday, the maximum was two degrees Celsius above normal while the minimum was normal in Dehradun while the maximum and minimum were both a degree above normal in Pantnagar. The maximum was normal while the minimum was a degree below normal in Mukteshwar. In New Tehri, the maximum was a degree below normal while the minimum was normal.
Due to the lack of rain and snowfall in winter so far, most parts of the State, especially in the plains, have not yet started experiencing the winter chill at a time when November is about to end.
