141 teams to provide top -notch health facilities for National Games

 To provide health facilities for the players and guests during the 38th National Games, the State Health department has constituted 141 teams. These teams will be on the alert- mode from January 28 on which the national mega sport event starts to February 14-the day it will end. 

Informing this, the Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar said that State nodal officers, deputy nodal officers and co-nodal officers have been deployed at the State level. At the district level, the chief medical officer (CMO) will be the district nodal officer while the additional CMO will be the co-nodal officer. 

He further said that a 10-bed hospital would operate for players in the Maharana Pratap Stadium, Dehradun, and a two-bed hospital would function at IGI Sports Stadium, Gaulapar, Haldwani. Moreover, sufficient quantities of medicines and equipment are being procured for the players. 

 Kumar said that the chief superintendent of the district hospital, Nainital Dr Tarun Tamta has been made the nodal officer for the Kumaon division while Dr K S Negi has been appointed the nodal officer for the Garhwal division. 

The Health secretary noted that the nodal officers and co-nodal officers have been appointed for primary, secondary and tertiary health care. In secondary health care, medical specialists in neurology, cardiology, head injuries and spine injuries will be on-call 24/7. Additionally, on-call (24/7) ambulances will be deployed at each district hospital along with necessary medicines. On-call teams will be stationed at the medical units nearest to the players’ residences, he said.

“There will be a designated team for each sport and shift, comprising one doctor, two nursing staff, two physiotherapists (male and female) and one ward boy. One team will remain on standby mode. Four ambulances will accompany the medical teams at all sports venues,” he said. 

The Health secretary informed that three on-call (24/7) ambulances- equipped with essential medicines- will be available at each district hospital. In total, 150 doctors, 300 nursing staff, 25 physiotherapists, 30 pharmacists and 50 ward boys will be deployed.

During the National Games, 115 ambulances-both departmental and those from the 108 service—will be in operation. Five beds will remain reserved in the trauma department of AIIMS Rishikesh from January 28 to February 14. If necessary, airlift facilities will be provided through a heli ambulance, he said.
