The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal has initiated the process of reclaiming 750 bighas of land in the district. The administration aims to regain complete control over these lands by February 28, with 300 bighas already taken back. The administration has also reportedly started the process of taking action against Pacific Golf Estate in Dehradun and JP Group in Vikasnagar tehsil to acquire 12.75 hectare and 4.5 hectare lands respectively, as per the officials. They informed that the court proceedings related to these cases have been expedited to ensure swift action.

The DM held a review meeting late on Tuesday during which he directed the officials to ensure the strict enforcement of legal provisions regarding land transactions. He stated that violations of land purchase and sale regulations will result in strict action against those involved. He further instructed officials to ensure the timely resolution of pending cases in the tehsils and directed revenue courts to accelerate proceedings. Bansal said that actions under Sections 166 and 167 of Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reform (UPZALR) act should not be limited to mere notices, as the administration is the rightful guardian of public property.

He instructed all sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) to actively oversee the resolution of cases in their respective tehsils and submit detailed weekly reports on their progress. He also directed officials to launch awareness campaigns about the dangers of land fraud and warned them to handle these cases with seriousness. He directed them to take effective measures to settle disputes under Sections 166, 167, 154 and 157 of UPZALR act. The DM said that the district administration is actively working to reclaim encroached land and to ensure adherence to land laws and reinforce the government’s authority over public property.
