A few months after kissing the dust in the Faizabad (Ayodhya) constituency during the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP is on its way to avenge it in the fiercely contested Milkipur Assembly by-election. As per the Election Commission website, after 20 rounds of counting in Milkipur, Bharatiya BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan has established an unbeatable lead of 50,000 votes over his nearest rival, Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Ajit Prasad.
Observers say that the battle in Milkipur is far more than a bypoll battle. It is brought with immense importance for both the parties, particularly for the saffron party, as it is a constituency under Faizabad LS constituency which catapulted the Hindutva narratives at the centre stage of the politics of Uttar Pradesh and the country as well.
