PNS/ DEHRADUN

In latest news from Doon, the Waqf property spread over 20 of the 27 tehsils in four districts-Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital- is all set to be subjected to a compressive survey.  These properties are learnt to belong mainly to the Sunni community and Rs one crore is being earned from such properties. The administrations of the four districts will play an important role in the survey. Notably, the last such survey was held in 1984 in undivided Uttar Pradesh. The survey will include several aspects like areas, number of houses and their uses in public welfare. Besides, it will be checked whether there is any encroachment involved in them.

The State government sources said that the objective behind the survey is to ensure that such properties are well-protected and used in the interests of the State and the people.
