The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister released Rs 2.87 crore to 4,812 beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana (MUY) at her official residence on Thursday.
After transferring the funds, Arya stated that since 2020, the State government has been providing Rs 3,000 per month to destitute children who lost their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic. Funds have already been allocated under this scheme until June 2026.
She further informed that the details of the assistance distribution for July and August 2026 have been finalised and approved by the district-level committees under the Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana (MUY). In July 2026, a total of Rs 1,44,36,000 was proposed/distributed for 4,812 beneficiaries, while in August 2026, Rs 1,43,37,000 was proposed/distributed for 4,779 beneficiaries. The combined total assistance amount provided to the beneficiaries today amounts to Rs 2,87,73,000 for both months.
The minister said that 38 children were enrolled, with 21 entering in July 2026 and 33 in August 2026. Since the scheme’s inception, a total of 1,513 children have reached the age of 21. Meanwhile, 252 children have dropped out of the scheme for reasons such as parental remarriage, beneficiary death, and other factors. In total, 1,765 children have exited the programme so far, Arya said.
Arya claimed that the objective of the State government is to provide financial support to children affected by the Covid-19 pandemic under the MUY, while also empowering them financially and offering necessary assistance for their education, upbringing and a better future.
