Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal warned that strict action will be taken against UJVN Limited officials and others after they reportedly failed to provide important details regarding the Vyasi-Lakhwar project. He also expressed dissatisfaction over their alleged poor performance in the project.

The DM conducted a review meeting on Tuesday regarding the Vyasi-Lakhwar project. The meeting included affected villagers, officials from UJVNL and revenue officers. During the meeting, affected families raised their concerns regarding compensation. When asked about the number of affected families and compensation distribution, UJVNL officials could not provide clear answers. Affected families also reportedly complained about the officials’ behaviour.

The DM expressed his disappointment over this negligence of the officials and directed the managing director of UJVNL to be present at the next meeting. He informed that families impacted in both 1980 and 2020 will receive compensation twice. He directed the officials concerned to work efficiently in the project as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami are personally monitoring the project’s progress, as per the DM. He stated that Dhami has also issued clear instructions to resolve project-related obstacles and expedite its implementation.

He also expressed dissatisfaction with UJVNL officials’ performance and instructed them to resolve project-related issues within a set timeframe. He warned that inaction will not be tolerated and the administration will assign other officials if the current officials fail to do their jobs. He also instructed the additional district magistrate (Administration), special land acquisition officer and revenue officials to submit a report within a week after hearing the concerns of the affected families. He said that strict action will be taken against any negligence in the project. Bansal directed officials to include representatives of affected families in future meetings to ensure their concerns are addressed in time.
