All Saints’ College celebrates Phooldei

Nainital-based All Saints’ College organised Phooldei, the famous folk festival of Uttarakhand, enthusiastically to welcome the advent of spring. Since the school was closed on the day Phooldei was celebrated across the State, it was celebrated a few days later.
The senior functionaries of the college management said that the main objective of this festival was to introduce the students to the rich folk culture of the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and to make the students who had come from different parts of the country aware of the significance of this colourful festival.
Like every year, this time too, the little students of classes I to V of the school performed Dehri Poojan by offering fresh rhododendron flowers at the main gate of the school and sang the traditional folk song Phooldei Chhamma Dei.
Addressing the students, the teachers said that this festival is a symbol of respect for nature and harmony. The students of the school hailing from Nepal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh along with those from Uttarakhand participated.
Among the dignitaries present was the acting principal of the school, Anjana Richards.
