NSUI holds protest against rising unemployment, substance abuse

National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of Congress party organised a protest march against increasing unemployment and substance abuse in Dehradun on Monday.
Under the ‘open war against unemployment and substance abuse’ programme, the workers of the NSUI first staged a Dharna at Gandhi Park and then marched to Rajiv Gandhi complex at the Dispensary Road.
Addressing the workers, former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the agitation of the youngsters is a fight to save the future of Uttarakhand. He said that the awareness in the youth will pave the way for change of power in the State. Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said that the Dhami government has failed completely in providing employment to the youngsters. He said that unemployment and substance abuse is increasing but the State government is in slumber.
NSUI leader Harish Joshi said that the rising unemployment has put the future of youngsters in the dark. He said that those involved in the paper leak cases are being patronised by the BJP leaders.
The NSUI leaders said that the trade of drugs near the educational institutes is thriving and the youngsters are becoming victims of substance abuse. The Congress party and NUSI are trying to create awareness in the society by declaring an open war against substance abuse in the State.
Congress leaders Survir Singh Sajwan, Raj Kumar, Rajendra Shah, Lal Chand Sharma, Mahendra Singh Negi, Ajay Singh, Garima Dasauni, Pratima Singh and others attended the protest.
