Health department to soon receive 103 nursing staff: Rawat

Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the Medical Health and Family Welfare department will soon recruit 103 nursing officers, following a similar initiative by the Medical Education department. This recruitment brings the total number of nursing officer positions across both departments to 690.
The Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board (UMSSSB) has initiated the recruitment process for the 103 backlog posts of nursing officers, which are available for both male and female candidates. The online application process will begin on December 2, 2025, and will close on December 22, 2025. Among the 103 positions available, 63 are designated for diploma-holder nursing officers (female), 31 for degree-holder nursing officers (female), five for diploma-holder nursing officers (male) and four for degree-holder nursing officers (male), he said.
Rawat said that previously, the Board announced recruitment for 587 vacant posts of nursing officers in the Government medical colleges. This means that a total of 690 nursing officer positions will soon be filled in both the Health and Medical Education departments. Selected nursing officers will be appointed to government medical colleges and various medical facilities across the State, which will enhance health services and significantly improve patient care, Rawat stated.
Additionally, he said that the recruitment process has also begun for 30 vacant backlog posts of dental hygienist within the Medical Health and Family Welfare department. The department has sent a requisition to UMSSSB for direct recruitment to these posts. Of the 30 positions, four are for the unreserved category, 14 for Scheduled Castes, three for Scheduled Tribes and nine for Other Backward Classes.
Candidates interested in applying can do so online starting December 3, 2025, on the official website of the Board, with the application deadline set for December 23, 2025, Rawat added.
