The authorities on Friday ordered the closure of the Valley of Flowers (Bhyundar) for tourism activities for safety reasons considering the continuing rainfall in this region of Chamoli district. The national park authorities took this decision considering the sudden rise being witnessed in nalas passing through the valleys.
Officials said that consistent rainfall since Friday morning caused the authorities to close the trek for the safety of the visitors. The activity in the valley is at its peak these days with visitors from across India and abroad visiting it to witness the rare flora and fauna.
Valley of Flowers ranger Chetan Kandpal informed that the authorities decided to halt tourism for the safety of visitors due to the consistent heavy rain in the area. The nalas tend to flood after even moderate rain, making it difficult for people to pass. Considering this, the valley has been closed for a day. The officials will decide upon reopening the valley after the weather clears, he said.
