About 80 per cent of the construction of the blood bank at Deen Dayal Upadhyay district Hospital has been completed, according to the principal medical superintendent Dr Manu Jain.
It’s important to mention that, in response to a directive from the district magistrate Savin Bansal, the hospital administration had earlier prepared and submitted a proposal for the blood bank, which has recently received approval from the State administration. Further, officials had earlier informed that the State administration has issued a tender to Peyjal Nigam for the blood bank’s construction. Currently, work on the blood bank at the hospital is still ongoing, having started a few months ago.
While providing an update on the blood bank’s status and operations, Jain said that the establishment of the blood bank was earlier halted temporarily for some days due to the heavy and frequent rainfall experienced during this year’s monsoon season, which created significant difficulties for the construction workers. However, he said that the construction of the blood bank is now ongoing and almost 80 per cent of it has been completed, with the tiling phase underway. Authorities have set a deadline for the project’s completion by February 2026, but the construction company has stated its intention to hand over the blood bank to the hospital administration by December 30, he added.
He stated that there has been regular monitoring of the construction of the blood bank to ensure its timely completion. Being a district hospital, patients have encountered various challenges due to the lack of a blood bank, which sometimes leads them to opt for other hospitals instead of the district facility.
Jain further added that as the work approaches completion, the hospital administration has asked the director general of Health to procure the essential equipment for the facility, along with the hiring of required personnel.
