MCD removes encroachments ahead of festivities

With Christmas and New Year celebrations approaching, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has launched an anti-encroachment drive along various roads in several areas of the provisional State capital.
The corporation is especially focusing on key routes and other busy locations, anticipating the arrival of a large number of tourists during the festivities. As part of the ongoing drive, more than 100 encroachments have already been removed to ensure smooth traffic movement and public convenience.
According to officials, the MCD has also issued notices to encroachers and issued a clear warning that strict action will be taken in case the encroachment is repeated. Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal stated that the number of tourists increases significantly during Christmas and New Year, and that the encroachments are being removed to maintain smooth traffic and ease of movement. She further warned that repeat offenders will face stringent action.
The municipal corporation has clarified that the anti-encroachment drive will continue in the coming days, and regular monitoring will be carried out to prevent encroachments from reappearing in the city.
