Former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Suresh Rathore has alleged that the allegations being levelled by his purported second wife Urmila Sanawar are part of a Congress conspiracy. He said that she is intentionally trying to defame him on social media and other public platforms, adding that he had been blackmailed and had to sell a factory he owned to pay Rs 50 lakh in the past.
Addressing the media here on Thursday, the former MLA expelled by the BJP for six years earlier this year, alleged that Sanawar and the Congress are conspiring to defame him. He said that if she claims to be his wife, she should approach the court of law instead of claiming so on social media, adding that he would then do as directed by the court.
Amist rounds of allegations and counter allegations between Rathore and Sanawar involving issues including the Ankita Bhandari murder case and some BJP leaders purportedly involved in it, the former MLA addressed the media once again at the Press Club. He accused Sanawar of trying to break his family while also damaging his social and political image. He objected to her using the term ‘Kalnemi’ to describe him while stating that he had also been blackmailed. “I had to sell a factory and pay Rs 50 lakh to save my family. This amount was taken purportedly to buy a house in Mumbai. This entire episode is a conspiracy hatched by the Congress party and all that is happening is on the directions of the Congress,” he alleged. Rathore also questioned the functioning of the police while seeking an impartial investigation in the matter. He said that if mobile phones and call details of the key persons in the matter are checked, the names of persons linked to the Congress will be revealed, adding that Sanawar is being used as a “tool” by the Congress.
The former MLA claimed that while serving in various positions in the BJP, he had worked to unite the society. He also appreciated the functioning of the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, stating that it was doing good work. He demanded that Sanawar should be arrested, adding that the Congress had turned the Bhandari murder case into a “joke”. Regarding the case registered against him, Rathore said that he is ready to go to jail if he is found guilty. However, he demanded that the entire matter should be investigated in an impartial and transparent manner.
