Need to integrate ancient culture & tradition with modern technology: Governor

Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has said that there is a need to integrate our ancient civilization, culture and knowledge tradition with modern technologies. He was addressing the sixth convocation ceremony of Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University on Friday.
Expressing happiness that 21,664 students of the university have received degrees, the governor said they are all going to participate in the process of nation-building. The Governor said that the young generation will play a decisive role in realizing India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by the year 2047.
The Governor told the students that leadership does not mean only position, but also responsibility. He urged students to become job creators, entrepreneurs and innovators after earning their degrees. He asked them to stay away from addiction, corruption, and selfishness. The Governor praised the university’s academic and research achievements, noting that the publication and patenting of research papers reflect the university’s strong research culture.
In the ceremony, the governor presented degrees and gold medals to the students securing the highest marks. He also honoured the teachers who were rendering excellent services at the event. The governor also inaugurated the guest house, Type- V residences and multipurpose building of the campus.
Addressing the ceremony, Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat informed about the innovations being undertaken in the Higher Education department. Vice-Chancellor NK Joshi presented a detailed report on the university’s achievements and innovations.
MLA Premchand Agrawal, campus director MS Rawat and others attended the programme.
