PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation Dehradun (MCD) has extended the deadline for availing the 20 per cent additional property tax rebate for the financial year 2025–26. Taxpayers within the municipal limits can now avail the rebate benefit until February 28. The decision was taken on the orders of the municipal commissioner Namami Bansal to provide relief to taxpayers and encourage the timely payment of municipal dues.

Assistant municipal commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh clarified that no rebate will be granted after the extended deadline. Property owners and other eligible taxpayers have been advised to clear their pending dues before the last date to take advantage of the rebate.

Singh said that it has so far collected Rs 48 crore in property tax revenue against a target of Rs 75 crore for the current financial year. Singh expressed confidence that the remaining amount would be recovered before the end of the financial year with the public’s cooperation.

As part of the effort to recover the pending dues, notices have been issued to establishments in State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL) and various government buildings, directing them to clear their pending dues at the earliest. Special property tax collection camps are also being organised across urban and rural areas under municipal jurisdiction to facilitate smooth payment and address any grievances.

The municipal corporation has asked residents and taxpayers to cooperate and ensure timely payment to help achieve the annual revenue target.
