Mother’s Day was celebrated by many across Uttarakhand on Sunday. In Dehradun, residents marked the occasion by spending time with their mothers at shopping centres, cafes and other venues. To draw customers and boost footfall, several shop owners, including those running clothing stores and cafes, offered special discounts and deals for the day.
Social media was filled with posts celebrating Mother’s Day, making the occasion even more memorable. A café shop owner Reena Gagan shared that as a mother herself, she understands the importance of making mothers feel special on this day. With this in mind, she offered a discount on bills for mothers at her café on Sunday. This promotion not only made mothers and their children feel appreciated but could also boost foot traffic at her café in the future, she said.
“I have been running a clothing business for the past few years. Every year on Mother’s Day or other special occasions, I launch special offers on clothes in my shop. This year, I offered a 20 per cent discount on clothing and saw a large number of customers as children purchased beautiful outfits for their mothers,” said clothing shop owner Vinay Jaiswal.
College student Simmy Verma said that she celebrated Mother’s Day with her mother visiting a café, shopping and engaging in other activities. She noted that due to her busy study schedule, she usually spends less time with her mother, but this Mother’s Day, she made it a point to celebrate together and enjoy the discounts offered at various shops and cafés.
