Over 600 people verified in Dehradun under Operation Prahar

Dehradun police continued its verification drive under the ongoing Operation Prahar on Sunday. During the operation, the identities of more than 600 people from other districts and States were verified. According to the police, action was taken against 41 landlords and establishment owners who had not completed tenant verification. 

Landlords were challaned under Section 83 of the Police Act. A total fine of Rs 4.10 lakh was imposed on them. The drive was conducted in Vasant Vihar, Vikasnagar and Selaqui areas.

During the drive, police also found 15 suspicious persons moving in different areas. They were brought to the police station for identity verification. After checking their details, they were challaned under Section 81 of the Police Act. A total fine of Rs 3,750 was recovered from them.

Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal said that the purpose of the campaign is to keep a watch on suspicious activities and improve law and order in the district. “Tenant verification is also important for public safety and helps police keep records of people living on rent,” he added.
