Chief secretary Anand Bardhan issued clear instructions to officials to take strict action against individuals engaged in black marketing, hoarding and creating artificial shortages of essential commodities. He emphasised the need for concerned departments to conduct regular inspection campaigns and ensure thorough inspections of markets, warehouses and wholesalers, to end this.  He said this during a review meeting with the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department at the Secretariat on Friday, focusing on the availability and pricing of daily essential commodities in the State.

During the meeting, he inquired about the availability and prices of these commodities from Food Commissioner BL Rana.

CS directed the relevant departments to implement ongoing monitoring to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential daily goods at reasonable prices. He insisted that the prices and availability of food items, diesel, petrol, LPG and other vital consumer goods be continuously monitored, to prevent any inconvenience to the public.

Bardhan further stated that the State government is fully committed to providing relief to the public and maintaining a smooth market system. He instructed that special attention be given to the availability and price control of essential commodities in all districts, particularly those associated with the Char Dham Yatra and emphasised that immediate action should be taken if any irregularities are found.
