Pandey inspects Sheeshambada plant, directs scientific waste disposal and cleanliness measures

The Dehradun municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey conducted an inspection of the Sheeshambada waste management and recycling plant of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Thursday as part of efforts to strengthen the city’s sanitation system. During the visit, he expressed strong displeasure over the large accumulation of legacy waste at the site and reviewed ongoing waste management operations.
Pandey directed the officials to ensure the scientific and systematic disposal of accumulated waste on a priority basis. He stressed that the removal of old waste must be accelerated and the overall waste management process should be made regular and efficient. He also reviewed the processing of fresh waste and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) operations, instructing that these activities be expedited to reduce pressure on the plant. Pandey instructed that all waste transportation vehicles must be fully covered during transit to prevent garbage spillage on roads and to maintain urban cleanliness. He also emphasised the need for timely repair and smooth functioning of machines used in the waste decomposition process to avoid operational delays.
Following the Sheeshambada inspection, Pandey also visited the Shankarpur Gaushala and reviewed arrangements related to cattle care, fodder supply and drinking water. He directed the officials to ensure proper maintenance and smooth functioning of all facilities at the shelter.
Deputy municipal commissioner Tanveer Singh and chief municipal health officer Dr Anand Shukla were also present.
