To speed up preparations for the 2027 Ardh Kumbh Mela, the Mela officer Sonika conducted on Monday an on-site inspection of the pedestrian paths and footpaths being developed leading to major temples. During the inspection, she inspected the pedestrian paths, stairs and under-construction footpaths from Bhagat Singh Chowk to Bilkeshwar Mahadev Temple via Mansa Devi Temple. She reviewed the widening, repair, strengthening and technical quality of the paths and directed immediate necessary improvements. She also inspected the proposed alternative route for the safe evacuation of devotees in emergency situations.
She directed all ongoing works be completed before the start of Kanwad Yatra. “In areas where construction work cannot begin due to the Kanwar Yatra, work should begin as soon as the yatra ends so that Kumbh preparations can be completed on time,” she stated.
Under Kumbh Mela 2027, projects worth crores of rupees are being implemented to connect Chandi Devi Temple, Mansa Devi Temple, Har Ki Pauri, and other major religious sites with modern pedestrian paths and footpaths. Completion of these projects will provide better facilities to devotees, make crowd management more effective and strengthen Haridwar’s infrastructure, the Mela administration claimed.
