Govt sets up committee for Bapugram, Chauhan Bagga & Bindukhatta residents

In a major decision likely to benefit thousands of people residing in the forest land for decades, the State government has decided to set up a committee to find ways to give ownership rights to the residents of Bapugram (Rishikesh), Bindukhatta (Nainital) and Chauhan bagga (Khatima). A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet held at the State secretariat on Friday. The cabinet directed the chief secretary to set up the committee when the issue of 594 acres of forest land in Bapugram area of Rishikesh was taken up before it.
The director general Information Banshidhar Tiwari said that the cabinet also gave its approval to annul the ‘grant to Arabic Madarsas’ head in the budget. The decision was taken after the State government’s decision to abolish Uttarakhand Madarsa Board 2016 and constitution of Uttarakhand Minorities Education Authority from July 1, 2026.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to transfer 14.857 hectares to the Nanhi Pari Technology institute, Madhpura, Pithoragarh.
The cabinet also endorsed the decision to amend the Uttarakhand River Rafting and Kayaking regulation- 2016. The amendments aim to strengthen tourist safety and have the provision of imposing penalties on the firms violating these regulations.
In another decision, the cabinet approved the plan to set up a centralized kitchen in Srinagar of Pauri Garhwal district to provide cooked meals (mid-day meals) to students in class I to VIII in government schools. These kitchens will be set up by the Akshaya Patra foundation.
The approval for the creation of two positions within the Audit department for the audit work of the Kumbh Mela 2007 was also given by the cabinet.
In another decision, the cabinet approved the proposal to create seven posts and set up a Project Management Unit (PMU) for the Foreign Employment cell, located at the Sahaspur Skill Hub under the Skill Development department. This unit will maintain a youth database, conduct awareness programs and provide training tailored to employer demand.
