In view of the ongoing Kanwad Yatra, Char Dham Yatra and the upcoming festivals, the Food Safety and Drug Administration teams inspected food shops and Langars at several places across Dehradun district.
The assistant commissioner of Food safety, Dehradun, Manish Sayana said that a total of 23 food samples have been collected during the inspections. The samples have been sent to the government-run food laboratory for testing.
The inspections had been conducted on the directions of Food Safety and Drug Administration commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan, Sayana informed.
In Rishikesh, Gumnaiwala and Ranipokhari, the senior food safety officer (SFSP) Santosh Kumar Singh inspected food establishments and Langars. The team collected samples of cold drinks, mustard oil, chilli powder and biscuits for testing.
In Vikasnagar, inspections were carried out in Jiwaredi, Sabhawala and Herbertpur. The SFSO Sanjay Tiwari collected samples of different ingredients used.
The food safety officer Ramesh Singh inspected food shops in Turner Road, Majra, Chandrabani and the ITO Park area. Samples of coriander powder, mustard oil, pan masala, paneer and tofu paneer were collected.
Sayana further said that the action would be taken as per the rules if any sample is found to be unsafe or below the required standards. “Such inspection drives will continue during the Kanwad Yatra and Char Dham Yatra and also the upcoming festivals,” he added.
