A three-day photo and film exhibition on the Partition of India will be held at the Doon Library and Research Centre from August 14 to 16. The exhibition will focus on the pain, displacement and memories of people affected by the Partition in 1947.
While reviewing the arrangements for the exhibition, the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan directed the officials to invite people who experienced the Partition horrors so they could share their memories and experiences with others.
The DM said that the Partition was not only an important event in history but also a painful experience for millions of families. “It is important to remember their suffering and help the younger generation understand the gory history,” he said.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from 10 AM to 7 PM on all these three days. It will show photographs and films related to the Partition and the experiences of people who were forced to leave their homes during that volatile period of the sub-continental history.
The DM also directed schools, colleges and higher educational institutions to organise debates, quizzes, painting and essay competitions on the Partition. Short films related to the Partition will also be shown on LED screens at different places across the city.
