PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Nainital
The weather in Nainital has changed, with rain bringing a mild chill; the lake offers a peaceful atmosphere amidst a sea of colourful umbrellas.
The weather here took a sudden turn on Saturday. A pleasant morning quickly gave way to a gathering of clouds, bringing intermittent showers across the city. It rained heavily for a short time in the afternoon, and continued into the evening.
As the rain enhanced the beauty of Nainital, tourists were seen strolling along Mall Road and the markets, wearing colourful raincoats and carrying umbrellas. Many tourists, despite the rain, enjoyed boating in Naini Lake. The stunning view of fog and rain rolling over the lake continued to draw large crowds of tourists. Due to the continuous rain, the water level of Naini Lake has risen.
However, the hoteliers said that the changing weather is affecting tourist footfalls negatively. They said that the number of tourists was less compared to normal days. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert. Tourists and locals visiting the hilly areas are advised to remain vigilant.
