NAPSR files petition against CEO in High Court
The National Association for Parents and Student Rights (NAPSR) filed a petition against the Dehradun chief education officer (CEO) in the High Court as many parents’ associations have accused the CEO of being biased towards some private schools and ignoring the welfare of students during the ongoing pandemic.
Parents associations like Uttarakhand Abhibhavak Sangh (UAS) has accused CEO multiple times that she allegedly ignored the welfare of students and supported some private schools that purportedly exploited parents during the pandemic.
President of NAPSR Arif Khan, the association has filed a petition against CEO a week ago. He said that his petition will be registered in the Court soon but he cannot unveil more details about his petition at present as per the suggestion of his lawyer. In the meantime, Khan also commented about the recent proposal of Principals Progressive Schools’ Association (PPSA) of forming a committee to verify whether Covid-19 pandemic actually affected the parents financially. According to him, they have no issue with this proposal if the government would form and conduct this committee and include education department and parents associations as the management of private schools can act in a biased manner towards certain parents. “Why schools would verify parents’ financial background and on what grounds?”, Khan questioned. He said that they will support the decision only if the government will create such Committee and not the private schools.
It is noteworthy to mention here that the CEO has clarified it before that she is not biased towards anyone but rather than believing a single party blindly, she enquires and listens to both the parties. As per the CEO, those who accuse her of favouring the private schools are mostly those who have probably filed complaints against schools but could not prove their claims.
