Anganwadi workers complain of harassment
The President of State Anganwadi Workers Association Rekha Negi has lodged a complaint with the district magistrate of Pauri district stating that some Anganwadi workers are receiving calls from some men in Pauri who are abusing them for not getting the desired information.
Negi stated that some men who claimed to be calling from the Chief Minister’s Office ask Anganwadi workers about the Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and when they refuse to answer, they verbally abuse and harass them. She said the State Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) department has instructed the workers not to reveal any details till further orders and hence, none of the workers are saying anything regarding the programme. Stating that this harassment is going on for several days, Negi requested the DM to investigate the matter as soon as possible.
