Portfolios distributed among council of ministers

Departments under CM reduced while ministers’ departments remain largely same as in previous cabinet

On the fourth day after the council of ministers under chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat was sworn in, the portfolios were distributed to the cabinet ministers and state ministers on Tuesday. While the CM has reduced the number of departments under him compared to the previous CM, the departments given to those cabinet ministers who were part of the previous cabinet have largely remained the same.

The CM will be responsible for home, finance, state estate, revenue, justice, technical education, medical health and medical education, civil aviation, information, public works, excise, planning, secretariat administration, general administration, rural development, power, personnel and vigilance, and industrial development (mining).

Satpal Maharaaz has been given the portfolios of irrigation and minor irrigation, watershed management, culture, religious affairs and tourism while Banshidhar Bhagat has been given charge of legislative and parliamentary affairs, food, civil supply and consumer affairs, urban development, housing and information and science technology. Harak Singh Rawat has been given the portfolios of forest, environment conservation and climate change, labour, skill development and employment, AYUSH and AYUSH education while Bishan Singh Chufal has been given charge of drinking water, rural construction and census. Similarly, Yashpal Arya has been handed the responsibility of transport, social welfare, minority welfare and election while Arvind Pandey has been given charge of school education (basic and secondary), sports and youth welfare, Panchayati Raj and Sanskrit education. Subodh Uniyal has been made the minister of agriculture and farmer welfare while Ganesh Joshi has been given the charge of soldier welfare, industrial development, micro, small and medium enterprises. Among the State ministers, Dhan Singh Rawat has been given the portfolios of cooperatives, protocol, disaster management and rehabilitation, and higher education while Rekha Arya has been given women empowerment and child development, animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries. Yastishwaranand has been given charge of language, reorganisation, sugar cane development and sugar industry.
