Guv directs measures to step up efforts against Covid

Governor Baby Rani Mauya directed the health secretary to step up efforts being undertaken to check the spread of Covid in the state. Chairing a meeting to review the situation in the state, the governor said that work should be done by the administration on a war footing to check the contagion with the help of the public.
The assistance of ex-servicemen, NCC cadets, volunteers of various NGOs and Red Cross should be taken in efforts against Covid. She directed the health secretary to take a meeting soon with the district magistrates of the six most affected districts- Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Pauri and Tehri. The health secretary in-charge Pankaj Pandey informed that the health department had recently received 300 new doctors. MBBS final year students are also being included with the doctors while the services of nursing students are also being taken. The stadium in Haldwani has been converted into a Covid care unit.
The governor directed the health director general Dr Tripti Bahuguna that the best practices of other states should be adopted in Uttarakhand. Public awareness should be raised especially among women and children to maintain social distancing, wear masks and maintain sanitisation, said Maurya.
