Pedalling for protection: Corbett kicks off Wildlife Week

Wildlife Week began at Corbett Tiger Reserve with a message of wildlife and environmental conservation. A 15-km cycling rally was organised from the Corbett forest complex to raise awareness among people about wildlife protection and conservation. Schoolchildren, wildlife enthusiasts and Corbett staff participated in the rally. Before the rally, participants signed a ‘Sankalp Banner’ and pledged to protect wildlife and the environment.
Local MLA Diwan Singh Bisht flagged off the rally. Earlier, CTR deputy director Rahul Mishra briefed the participants about the significance and objectives of Wildlife Week.
Schoolchildren carried placards bearing messages such as ‘Do not cut trees’, ‘Stop using polythene’ and ‘Protect wildlife’. Wildlife photographer Deep Rajwar also organised an awareness activity in which school children dressed as wild animals and conveyed the importance of wildlife protection.
Among those present were the SDM Gopal Singh Chauhan, Park warden Binder Pal and Bijrani range officer Naveen Chandra Pandey.
