Smart ration card holders can approach DSO to rectify errors
Smart ration cardholders in the Dehradun district can approach the district supply office or the respective supply officers to register any errors in the newly issued cards. In the last nine months, the district supply office has distributed only 1.5 lakh smart ration cards out of a total of 3,75,000 registered beneficiaries in the district. The Dehradun district supply officer (DSO) informed that Jaswant Singh Kandari, all the data of the registered beneficiaries has been provided to the company selected by the State government to print the smart ration cards which has assured to print them by the end of this month. “We would have received all smart ration cards sooner but the printing process got delayed due to the Covid curfew across the State this year. We have provided all the required information of beneficiaries to the company and it has assured to provide the remaining 2,25,000 ration cards by the end of August,” stated Kandari. Meanwhile, many beneficiaries who have received the new smart ration cards have complained of errors like incorrect names, addresses or wrong units printed on the cards. However, the administration will start corrections on the new ration cards only after the distribution of 2,25,000 ration cards. “We have received some complaints regarding the printing of wrong information on new smart ration cards but we are not presently correcting them by reprinting the cards. The printing of new cards is underway so we have informed the beneficiaries that corrections will be made only after the distribution of all cards,” said the DSO. However, he added that supply officers are updating new information and making corrections online so that beneficiaries can get ration on time. “Anyone can come with an application and relevant documents to make corrections which will be done to the available online details of beneficiaries,” informed Kandari. On the recent orders of the State Government to make all the ration cards available online, DSO informed that all the beneficiaries of Dehradun have online ration cards and no one is issued ration without it across the district.
