Accepting the popular demand of a holiday the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has declared a public holiday on the occasion of the traditional Pahadi festival of Igaas.
The day is also celebrated as Dev Deepawali or Budhi Deepawali in the mountainous parts of the state and is held on the 11th day of Deepawali. The CM made the announcement of the holiday in Haridwar on Thursday.
The demand for a holiday on Igas generated momentum after the Dhami government declared a public holiday on the occasion of Chhath.
