Assembly budget session to be held in Doon from June 14-20

Tuesday, 31 May 2022 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Ending speculations on the schedule and the place of the budget session of Uttarakhand Assembly the state administration has requested the Vidhan Sabha secretariat that the session should be organised from June 14 to 20 in Dehradun. The Vidhan Sabha secretariat would now send a proposal in this regard to the Governor and after his approval, a notification for the session would be issued. The intention of the state administration regarding amendment in the earlier schedule of second session of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha for the year 2022 has been conveyed by the Principal Secretary Legislative works and Parliamentary affairs Hira Singh Bonal to the Secretary Vidhan Sabha. Earlier the department had submitted a plan to hold the budget session of state assembly at Gairsain from June 7.

The holding of the Rajya Sabha elections and the surge in the number of pilgrims in the ongoing Char Dham Yatra have played an important role in rescheduling the Budget session.

For holding the session in Bharadisain, Gairsain (Chamoli) the state government has to undertake an immense resource mobilisation which included hiring of vehicles and making arrangements for the stay of officers, employees, deployment of police personnel and other arrangements which was difficult in view of ongoing Char Dham Yatra.

Normally the budget session of the assembly is held in the month of February- March but this year the general budget of the state could not be prepared because of the assembly elections. After the election the Pushkar Singh Dhami government got a ‘vote on account’ of Rs 21,116.81 Crore passed from the state assembly.

Since this vote on account was for only for four months the state government needs to pass the general budget in the upcoming session. This year the Finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal has sought suggestions from the common people on the budget and promised that their suggestions would be incorporated in the Budget.
