CM Dhami proposes to set up electronic charging stations on Char Dham Yatra route
The Uttarakhand government would purchase the now defunct plant of the Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) at Ranibagh in Nainital district. The State government has given its acceptance to the union ministry of heavy industries for purchasing this plant and its land on the price determined by the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC).
CM said that the cabinet committee on economic affairs had given its approval to close down the HMT Ranibagh plant after it incurred regular losses. The plant is proposed to be transferred to the Uttarakhand government on ‘As is where is’ basis.
Discussion on the transfer of HMT plant and land was held between the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Union minister for heavy industries Mahendra Nath Pandey in New Delhi on Thursday. In the meeting Dhami requested the union minister to give necessary directives to the officers concerned for transfer of HMT, Ranibagh to Uttarakhand. He said that new industrial units would be set up in the land of HMT Ranibagh which would create employment opportunities in the area.
The HMT Ranibagh plant located in Haldwani in Nainital district was set up in the year 1985. The plant is spread in an area of 91 acres of land and at its peak it used to manufacture 20 lakh watches in a year. In the year 2016 the plant was finally closed.
In the meeting between the CM and Union minister it was decided that electronic charging stations for vehicles would be constructed on the Char Dham Yatra route and for it the State government would submit a proposal to the Union government.
