Patanjali Foods starts work on establishing palm oil mill in Arunachal Pradesh

Acharya Balkrishna of Patanjali Foods Limited (formerly known as Ruchi Soya Industries Limited) and Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture minister Tage Taki laid the foundation stone for setting up palm oil mill at industrial growth centre in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Patanjali officials said that in Arunachal Pradesh, the company plans to undertake oil palm plantation on 38,000 hectares area across nine districts. The company has already established two nurseries at Pasighat and Holangi and is in the process of establishing three more nurseries in Lower Siang District at Kherram, FTC and Dipa. This will give impetus to State’s economy and facilitated major employment generation along with increase in local farmers’ income.Patanajali Foods has committed itself to the government’s NMEO-OP programme and plans to undertake large scale cultivation of oil palm plantation on five lakh hectare area in India out of which 3.2 lakh hectare area will be in the north east region. Patnajali’s NE oil palm programme will benefit the State’s economy for the next 30 years, claimed the company officials.
