Husband arrested from Delhi for wife’s suspicious death in Mussoorie

The police on Saturday arrested the husband of a woman who had died under suspicious circumstances while staying with him at a homestay in Mussoorie on June 15. The incident took place at Kiyana Homestay in Tipridhar on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti Road. After being arrested from Delhi, the man was produced before the court, which sent him to 14 days of judicial custody.
The deceased was identified as Parupudi Radha Gayatri. After her family filed a complaint, Mussoorie police registered a case under section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against her husband, Somayajula Charan.
On Wednesday, the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan also ordered a detailed and impartial magisterial inquiry in the case. Following the order issued by the DM, the Mussoorie sub-divisional magistrate Rahul Anand has been appointed as the inquiry officer.
During the investigation, police collected evidence and obtained a non-bailable warrant from the judicial magistrate in Mussoorie. The accused, a resident of East Delhi, was arrested from New Delhi. He has been lodged in Suddhowala district jail while the investigation continues.
