Alaknanda rises near Badrinath shrine, SDRF deployed

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Jyotirmath
The water level of Alaknanda river started rising suddenly since Monday afternoon along the stretch between Brahmakapal and Tapt Kund, submerging the ghats around Badrinath Dham. Locals said that due to the ongoing river front work on the banks of Alaknanda in Badrinath Dham, the river remained narrow from Brahmakapal to Gandhi Ghat and this is what causes the water level rise.
The administration stepped in with precautionary measures like deploying SDRF teams on the banks and stopping anyone from going near the bank. The police station in-charge, Navneet Bhandari said that they were alert, allowing no one to get near the river at the vulnerable places.
