A delegation of federation of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) workers met the Sainik Kalyan minister Ganesh Joshi at his residence on Monday. In the meeting the delegation claimed that many departments are removing the UPNL workers citing the ‘no work no pay’ rule of the government. They informed the minister that such a step has created concern among the UPNL workers. On hearing the concern of the workers, the minister summoned the managing director of UPNL and additional secretary Sainik Kalyan to his residence and held discussion on the issue. The minister assured the workers that all their issues will be addressed and positive steps will be taken to solve them.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the call given by the federation of UPNL workers, thousands of UPNL workers were on strike last month. The federation demanded that the government should regularise the UPNL workers following the ‘equal pay for equal work’ principle endorsed by the Supreme Court. On the assurance of the government, the federation suspended its agitation on November 25. However the federation has now alleged that many departments are threatening to take action on the workers citing no work no pay formulae for the strike period.
The delegation of the UPNL workers was led by president of the federation Vinod Godiyal and general secretary Vinay Prasad.
