CM chairs meeting on Mansa Devi stampede

Charing a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat here on Monday, the chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the senior officials to make adequate arrangements to ensure that no stampede-like situation arises in the important shrines of the State like Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi in Haridwar, Kainchi Dham in Nainital, Neelkanth Temple in Pauri and Purnagiri Temple in Udham Singh Nagar.
Notably, several devotees had been killed and injured in a stampede at Mansa Devi temple on Sunday morning.
He stressed on efficient crowd management, registration of devotees, widening of the pedestrian paths and stairs and removing encroachments from around the shrines. He also suggested formation of a committee to be headed by the commissioners of the two divisions which would have senior administrative and police officers as members.
