The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya said that the government is working to increase the honorarium for Anganwadi workers, with promising news expected soon. She said this at the 12th State convention of the Uttaranchal Anganwadi Employees Union at Bazpur in Udham Singh Nagar on Sunday.
The minister assured the Anganwadi workers that the State government is actively committed to their welfare and economic empowerment. Arya said that, in response to the workers’ longstanding demands, the government has begun promoting Anganwadi workers to supervisory positions. She informed that the lump sum payment workers receive upon retirement is being increased to improve their financial support in the future.
The WECD minister shared details about expanding social security measures. She stated that the government is developing a plan to provide pensions for Anganwadi workers, with a final decision anticipated by 2026.
The union representatives also presented their issues and demands to the WECD minister, who responded positively and assured them of every possible solution.
